Trailflix: Lady Carrington Drive - Trail Description |
|
1. From Sir Bertram Stevens Drive (continues on from Farnell Avenue off Princes Highway), 200M after the bridge, turn into Lady Carrington Drive on the right, just as the main road goes uphill. This is Ironbark Flat – a great place for a picnic.
2. Proceed straight ahead to the car park adjacent to the undercover picnic facility, in front of the slow moving Hacking River. Park your car anywhere.
3. Look left towards the bridge crossing over the river Lady Carrington Drive proceeds left of that bridge and follows the river most of the way. It’s about 10Km of either flat or gently rolling terrain, with a couple of steep-ish hills in the middle, and saving the steepest ‘til last.
4. No turnoffs (for MTB), and along the way there are picnic tables and grassy areas alongside the river to stop for a break You pass by a number of brooks leading to the river, and several walking tracks (Wallumarra Track, the Forest Path, and the Palone Limestone caves)
5. The trail ends after about with a couple of steep uphills just before it meets Sir Bertrand Stevens Drive where you can turn around, or turn left and head up the road (2.5Km mostly uphill) to the top where you can turn off on our right and ride the Garrawarra Ridge track, giving you glimpses of the ocean, for 6Km. |
